ValveWizard ver 3.1 Enhancements

The main enhancements to the ValveWizard are to enable the tool to meet the less stringent rules of general industries like refineries and chemical plants, and allow the inclusion of metric units to support our International users. Additionally feedback from our users have generated the additional enhancements to make the program more appropriate to the needs of our industrial users.

Simple / Detailed Valves
Currently the program allows for only one set of input for all valves. This is a detailed input requirement that is necessary for performing all the calculations that were supported in VPOP for nuclear power generation plants. This detailed information is sometimes too extensive for other industries and in the international marketplace. The Simple valve will allow the minimum input to generate a packing set recommendation and necessary calculations.

Incomplete EIN / Non Chesterton packed Valves
The ValveWizard will now allow the addition of valve information without invoking the Add Wizard for the Chesterton recommendation and calculations. Information can be added directly to the Detail screen and will allow the user to import and save graphic files of the non-Chesterton packed valve configuration that can be displayed in the Detail view.

Drawing Tool
Currently the program incorporates fixed packing sets that overlay other drawings in creating the Journeyman Worksheet (JW) and Configuration View (CV). This restricts the number of packing configurations that can be displayed. When a configuration is called that does not exist as a drawing in the table then the JW/CV stuffing box is displayed empty. Only when there is a correct match of packing style(s) and number of rings does the JW/CV display the correct packing arrangement in the valve drawing. The drawing tool will allow the user to create packing sets and configurations that can be saved and then displayed in the reports.

Revised Journeyman Worksheet
Two new Journeyman Worksheets (JW) will be added. They will be accessed through selecting the Rev. A checkbox on the bottom of the JW screen. These new sheets will include additional information and sign off areas as requested by a variety of users. The new JW’s will not replace the existing JW’s and the original JW’s will remain as the default JW.

Survey Reports
Two new survey forms that can be viewed and printed. One is for “Simple” data input for general industries and non-nuclear valves, and the other is for the original “Detailed” for the nuclear industry. This provides the user with a valve survey form for gathering valve information that correlates the data needed with the ValveWizard requirements.

A4 Reports
To support international requirements all reports will allow for printing on A4 paper size.

Metric Units
The ability of the program will be enhanced by the addition of Metric units (mm, Centigrade, barg, N-m). Based on the user the units selected for use can be either the imperial or metric version. Individually valves can be entered that are not the selected default setting.

Packing Kits
The user will have the ability to create a set of packing rings into a single kit or item number. A user can select individual ring styles, for sealing and end rings, and quantities for each, which can then be represented by a single ItemNo.

Emissions / Leakage Measurements (ELM)
A new feature will be added to allow the user to input leakage and / or emissions measurements from the valve. This will allow the user to track emission improvements based on field measurements.

Split Sleeves
Currently the program will calculate one sleeve length to fill the bottom of the valve stuffing box. Users sometimes divide the sleeve length between the top and bottom of the stuffing box, rather than installing the entire sleeve in the bottom of the box. The user will be able to override the standard recommendation of a one piece sleeve.

Calculate New Bolt Length
A new bolt length will be calculated on valves using Live Load Spring Assemblies. The new length will add the additional length to the bolt to accommodate the length required by the spring assembly. This will allow the user in critcal applications to have the correct bolt length when changing out packing.

New Item Numbers
New Chesterton Item numbers can be locally added to the program. This will allow the addition of new MPB ring information that can be immediately available in the program for providing accurate Journeyman Worksheet information and inclusion in the program. This eliminates the need to update Supplier Table information when new Item numbers become available.

Custom Field Labels
A select group of field label names will be able to be renamed for a selected Facility. This will allow the user to customize the valve information tracked based on specific needs.
